AFI Festival

Watch Free movies at the AFI Festival from October 30, 2009 to November 7, 2009. “You can order a maximum of 20 tickets across the seven days of scheduled films.” Awesome! You can order tickets online at AFI.com, by phone at 1-866-AFI-FEST, or in person at the Festival Will Call desk located in the Mann Chinese 6 Theatre main lobby. If you go the day of the screening, tickets will be available and free as well. You can also attend red carpet galas for free, although there is a two ticket limit for each evening that the gala takes place. One film to watch out for is a movie called Youth in Revolt starring a familiar cast who includes Michael Cera, Justin Long, Jean Smart, and Ray Liotta.

Also free is the AFI Digital Festival or DigiFest where you can learn oodles and oodles about all things film. Register at the AFI website. The AFI DigiFest is located at the Mann Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA on November 4 and 5, 2009. Each day has a different agenda. Check-in is at 9:30am and presentations start at 10am and end at 5pm for both days. A cocktail party happens after at the Roosevelt Hotel Ballroom for both days as well. I would totally go if it wasn’t a work day.

The Wizard of Oz Movie

Netflix is offering a Free movie online – Wizard of Oz – on October 3, 2009 from 9am ET to 9pm ET. This movie is free for streaming and if you’re a Netflix member you can view it on other platforms that are Netflix compatible such as the Xbox 360, LG and Samsung Blu-ray disc players, TiVo digital video recorders, the Roku digital video player, and LG HD TVs. The full length feature is being offered to commemorate the 70th anniversary of one of the most well known flicks of all times. Also to top that off, Netflix is hosting a free live concert with celebs Jennifer Hudson, Julianne Hough, and Ahmir Thompson in New York’s Central Park in Rumsey Playfield on September 29, 2009 at 7:30pm. The celebs will be performing “contemporary interpretations of classic songs from the “The Wizard of Oz.” After the concert the Wizard of Oz movie will starting rolling.

The Third Jihad Movie

Watch The Third Jihad documentary, which is normally priced at $19.95, for free during the 9/11 anniversary. The free online movie is available for streaming from today till September 15, 2009. The film “is not a film about Islam. It is about the threat of radical Islam. Only a small percentage of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims are radical. This film is about them.” I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll be sure to tune in and my expectations will be great.

Free Blockbuster Movies

Blockbuster by Mail is offering Free movies for 6 weeks to new Blockbuster customers. You will need to enroll by September 7, 2009 in order to take advantage of this special offer. This offer is better than Netflix because Netflix only offers 2 weeks worth of free movies, although the company does offer streaming video too so there is that trade off. Enter in the Promotional Code: groupon at checkout just in case you don’t make it to the Groupon site today. The site displays one special per day so this deal will not show up tomorrow. Also, since Groupon is all about the “collective buying power” enough people must sign up for the deal in order for the deal to be valid. By enough I couldn’t tell you how many, but I assume that it changes everyday based on the product or service. Check out the Groupon site for details.

Watch the AVATAR movie preview for Free. This 16 minute 3-D sci-fi feature will take place next Friday, August 21, 2009, at 8pm in select theaters and IMAX theaters worldwide. Free tickets will be made available on Monday, August 17, 2009, 12pm PDT, on the official AVATAR website.
