If you’re a student, then you can download a myriad of Microsoft professional software for free thanks to Microsoft’s Dreamspark program. This software is the complete version just like the ones that are sold at stores that sell for $$. There’s a suite of goodies for developers and a few things for designers as well. Microsoft does verify your student status and it does this annually. Also, here are a few other requirements to obtain the free Microsoft software tools.

Two companies, FreeAllMusic.com and Guvera.com, are offering free song downloads for watching ads. Although you are required to register and there is a waiting list, the songs are DRM-free so you can transfer them to your iPod or Zune. If you don’t mind whizzing through some ads, then obtaining the free songs won’t be a challenge. The songs they’ve acquired are from Independents, of course, and two other major record labels.

Tax season is here. Time to get in on the fun! Get a free tax ebook with no strings attached from Smart Money. Also just in case you don’t already know, if you earn low to moderate income you may be eligible to a free electronic filing and even free tax preparation assistance. If your adjusted gross income is $57,000 or less you can obtain free e-filing and maybe free tax preparation, but generally to be part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program you need to make $49,000 or less. Find your local VITA to see if you’re eligible. It’s nice to have these programs, especially during these trying times.

It’s back…Bank of America is paying the admission fee to over 100 museums, zoos, and botanical gardens nationwide for Bank of America members. The Museums on Us program is offered the first weekend of every month. This was offered last year as well. Enjoy the free museum days all you Bank of America members.

This was just leaked by Charles van Heusen, a Microsoft employee. He posted “the proposed Office 2007-for-Office 2010 exchange program on his blog, and later pulled down the entry” according to Appscout who found out from Ars Technica.

Here is what they know – “Under the program, a customer who purchases Office 2007 from an authorized Microsoft partner between March 5 – September 30, 2010, and who installs it by Sept. 30, is eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2010 by Oct. 31.”

It’s too bad I bought mine before those dates. This is a great incentive to buy, however will Microsoft still honor the special now that it has been leaked or was all of this intentional to create buzz?

Diabetes, considered a silent killer, like smoking, is a major health problem in America. Oprah and Walgreens have teamed up to offer you a free diabetes test today, February 5, 2010, between 11am to 7pm your time.
